IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING AGM
Article 184.108.40.206 of MWSA Bylaws states as follows:
Regular Members in Good Standing for 60 days prior to an Annual or Special General Meeting are voting Members.
Given the fact that due to the unusual circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the membership of some members might have expired during the shutdown of the Centre. Therefore, we had contacted Alberta’s Corporate Registry and were advised that the Board of Directors can take a decision to make a one-time exception to the “60 days requirement.”
At the Board Meeting on 2020-06-25, the following motion was passed:
“That due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board of Directors has made a one-time exception to the requirement ‘Regular Members in Good Standing for 60 days prior to an Annual or Special General Meeting are voting Members’. Regular Members with paid-up membership dues on the day of the AGM will be considered voting members, be approved.”
This decision would ensure all paid up members would be eligible to vote at the AGM. Arrangements have been made to accept payment for membership renewals on MWSA’s website, safely and securely through Paypal: https://www.mwsac.ca/membership.
We request you to renew your membership online until such time that the Centre is open.
If you have any questions/concern, please feel free to contact email@example.com
Board Updates/AGM News: Due to COVID-19, Alberta’s Corporate Registry has permitted us to postpone the 2020 AGM. Until an AGM is held and the membership elects a new Board of Directors, the current Board will continue.
PROGRAM UPDATES: We encourage you to participate in our Online Programs, while we wait for MWSA to reopen.
Programming Credits will be issued for the remaining Winter 2020 classes, or you can choose to donate the Mill Woods Seniors Association, and we will issue you a charitable tax receipt. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
